Fanon in italia : tra terzomondismo, psichiatria e sinistra operaista

Résumé : Cette contribution examine la réception et la traduction des œuvres du psychiatre martiniquais Franz Fanon en Italie dans les années cinquante et soixante. Elle considère notamment la réception partielle dont a fait l’objet l’œuvre de Fanon pour des raisons éditoriales. Pendant longtemps la communication prononcée au congrès des écrivains noirs à Rome le 1^er Avril 1959, parue sur Rinascita avec le titre « Nazione, cultura e lotta di liberazione » demeura le seul texte connu de l’auteur. Pourtant, en 1959, l’auteur avait déjà écrit beaucoup d’essais et participé activement aux luttes d’orientation panafricaniste et du FLN algérien. C’est Giovanni Pirelli, militant socialiste et directeur de l’Institut Morandi et dont Mariamargherita Scotti a écrit la biographie, qui, s’intéressant à la traduction de L’an V de la révolution algérienne, a contribué au retour au premier plan de Fanon.

Abstract : This paper examines the reception and translation of the works of the Martinican psychiatrist Franz Fanon in Italy in the 1950s and 1960s. It considers in particular the partial reception of Fanon’s work for editorial reasons. For a long time, Fanon’s only known text was the paper he gave at the Congress of Black Writers in Rome on 1 April 1959, published on Rinascita under the title « Nazione, cultura e lotta di liberazione ». By 1959, however, the author had already written many essays and taken an active part in the pan-Africanist and Algerian FLN struggles. It was Giovanni Pirelli, a socialist activist and director of the Morandi Institute, whose biography Mariamargherita Scotti has written, who, by taking an interest in the translation of L’an V de la révolution algérienne, contributed to Fanon’s return to the forefront. The reception of his last work, Les damnees de la Terre, is considered as a milestone both for italian third-worldism and for its reception in reviews as Quaderni Piacentini
