L’annonce de la fin du monde dans les Oracles Sibyllins

Résumé :
L’article présente l’étude de procédés de persuasion par la peur mis en œuvre dans les visions apocalyptiques rapportées dans les Oracles sibyllins, notamment aux livres III à V, et quelques influences décelables dans leur élaboration (Hésiode, les Tragiques, Héraclite et les Stoïciens, Prophètes de l’Ancien testament, Livre de Daniel), pour créer des motifs marquants et récurrents dans les récits annonçant la fin du monde : prédictions post eventum (événements historiquement passés, datés, mais présentés comme à venir et mêlés aux prédictions concernant les fins dernières pour donner du crédit à ces dernières), cataclysmes cosmiques, festins anthropophages, veuvage du ciel provoqué par la guerre des étoiles, annihilation universelle.

Abstract :
The article presents the study of processes of persuasion by fear implemented in the apocalyptic visions reported in the Sibylline Oracles, such as in books III to V, and some detectable in-fluences in their elaboration (Hesiod, the Tragic, Heraclitus and the Stoics, Prophets of the Old Testament, Book of Daniel), to create striking and recurrent motifs in the stories announcing the end of the world : post eventum predictions (events historically past, dated, but presented as coming and mixed with predictions of the last ends to give credit to the latter), cosmic cataclysms, anthropophagous feasts, widowhood of the sky caused by star wars, universal annihilation.
